Call for nominations: Building Health Leadership Awards at Greenbuild!
Submit your project by Friday, November 8th 2019 to be considered for the award.
In partnership with the University of Virginia School of Medicine and the U.S. Green Building Council, the International WELL Building Institute seeks to recognize green building projects that demonstrate outstanding leadership inhealth promotion as an intentional focus for their design, construction, and operation. The open call for nominations is happening now through November 8th 2019 for the Building Health Leadership Awards.
The awards, to be presented at this year’s Global Health and Wellness Summit on November 19th at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Atlanta, will celebrate projects that are committed to improving the health of both people and planet. While green building rating systems offer adiverse set of opportunities to promote health and well-being, these systems must be thoughtfully applied in order to leverage their full potential for positive population health impact. By taking an intentional approach to health promotion, green building practitioners are able to create places that are good for individuals, communities and future generations. Leading projects go above and beyond standard practice by setting specific health goals and intentionally applying third party building certification programs to meet these goals.
The Building Health Leadership Award will recognize outstanding green building projects that have achieved or, are in the process of, achieving, three criteria:
- Planning for health promotion: The project has engaged in a systematic process to promote population health of the building site users, surrounding community and supply chain. This includes identifying impacted populations, identifying health needs, and prioritizing specific health promoting design and/or operation features.
- Achieving third party building certification: The project takes action to promote population health by specifying design, construction, and operation strategies within their approach to third party building certification programs.
- Measuring operational performance: The project has committed to measuring operational performance of health promoting design, construction and operation strategies.
If your project has achieved, or is working to achieve, these three requirements, we encourage you to apply for award consideration. Winners of the Building Health Leadership Award will be selected by an expert jury composed of leaders in green building and public health.
Please submit your completed application by Friday, November 8th 2019 to be considered.
