Bringing spaces to life through living green walls

At IWBI, our primary mission is to improve the health and well-being in buildings and communities globally. That’s why we find it so important to take our ideas to the world’s largest conference dedicated to sustainable building, Greenbuild.

We believe that knowledge is power. At Greenbuild, our team can be found at our booth on the Expo floor. Our booth is meant to be a meaningful, interactive space for attendees with design elements in line with the seven concepts that comprise WELL: Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Fitness, Comfort and Mind. Because we are passionate about educating Greenbuild attendees about our core concepts, our booth features activations that highlight each of these seven concepts.

To introduce attendees to our Mind and Air concepts, our booth features large living green walls from Suite Plants. These green walls work to purify the air in our booth and help foster a connection to the natural world and put our attendees at ease — a stark contrast to the indoor conference center where the event is held.

Living green walls have become enormously popular within the last few years. A growing number architects and designers are now including green walls as a key feature in their projects. Each wall is replete with underlying technologies, design opportunities and constraints that are inherent to the various living wall systems currently available.

Living Walls, also known as green walls, plant walls or vertical gardens, are a method for growing plants vertically on indoor or outdoor walls. These vegetated wall systems usually consist of a growing medium, irrigation and drainage system and a method for affixing the system to the underlying structural wall.

Interested in choosing a green wall for your project? The main sub-features to consider when looking at green walls are the watering system, the plant types and the system specifics. There are not any hard or fast rules when it comes to selecting a living wall system. Specific concerns for your project can help you decide on which green wall or plant system is best for your space.

We look forward to showcasing our green wall among other booth elements to help bring to light all that WELL encompasses. We hope to see you there!
