Yan Gao

Vice President, IWBI China

Yan Gao is the Vice President of IWBI China, focusing Northern Asia. International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI) is a public benefit corporation with a mission to improve human health and well-being through the built environment. IWBI administers the WELL Building Standard® (WELL), the world’s first building standard focused exclusively on human health and wellness. The WELL building certification program is an evidence-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring the performance of building features and other aspects of the built environments that impact the health and well-being of the people in the spaces we create.

Yan has more than 12 years of experience in green building industry. She has worked on more than twenty green building projects, covering both new and existing facilities, ranging from high end offices, corporate headquarters, showroom, high-density residential to industrial campuses. She specializes in areas of sustainable strategic planning for community program, green building design support and consultancy, innovative techniques in green building design and interior design.

She is a talented project manager and proven diplomatic communicator. She applies her skills to enhance day-to-day interactions with clients both onsite and remotely. She serves as an excellent bridge between technical and business teams, finding solutions and translating requirements and challenges into terms each side can understand and address.

As a Technical Director focused on IWBI Asia’s Northern China market, she works with all the stakeholders including developers, designers, consultants and even local standard compilation organizations to make sure WELL standard and policy execution are globally aligned and locally relevant.

Gao Yan received her master degree of design at University of Technology, Sydney, in 2005.
