Mark Carpenter

Principal Scientist

I have spent 20 years in the field of indoor environmental science with a master’s degree in Public Health & Indoor Environmental Science and a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credential from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene. During my field experience I had opportunities to work with the US EPA Indoor Environments division on the collection of IAQ research data (BASE Study) and participated in publications and presentations on normative IAQ data from the US building stock. This culminated in a position as National Technical Director with Healthy Buildings, where I led programs that help focus technical development of building assessments involving chemical and microbiological contaminants in air and water. I recently completed a volunteer appointment (2019) to the LEED Indoor Environmental Quality Technical Advisory Group where I helped to further the mission optimizing both technical and practical approaches to the program (v4.1)
