Brian Forehand

Lead Architect - North America

I am a creative polymath splitting my time between Washington, DC & rural WV, with over twenty years of architectural and interior design experience. I have a strong interest in contemporary design, focusing on renovation, adaptive reuse, and interior space planning in the residential and commercial sectors.

Currently, I am the Lead Architect – North America for Akelius Residential Property AB, a global housing developer operating in seven countries in Europe, Scandinavia, and North America. In my role, I oversee the development and implementation of our design standards and initiatives for our multifamily properties in our five North American cities – New York, Boston, DC, Toronto, and Montréal. I am also currently overseeing the development of our five corporate offices, all of which are pursuing LEED certification, and two of which are also pursuing WELL certification.

I currently serve on the Advocacy Committee of the DC Chapter of the American Institute of Architecture.

I have a strong interest in the intersection of environmental and social sustainability, wellness, and affordability in both urban and rural markets. As an architect, I aspire to thoughtfully contribute to the built environment while being a steward of the natural environment and an advocate for its inhabitants’ wellbeing.
