Alexis Holcombe

Assistant Professor

Lexy Holcombe (she/her) is a Richmond designer and educator with a special interest in defining ways that the built environment contributes to making healthy lives. Key to this research is an ongoing study of Blue Zones living and the lifelong benefits of natural movement and Active Design. Lexy is an assistant professor of interior design at VCU with a special interest in teaching beginning design students. She teaches interior design graphics to undergraduate and graduate students as well as the senior seminars that prepare students for their capstone thesis work. Lexy has also taught the interior design sophomore studio and currently teaches a Space Research studio in VCUarts’ Art Foundation program. Lexy holds a BA in political science from Chatham University, an MA in journalism and public affairs from American University and an MFA in interior environments from VCU.
