Susan Chung
Vice President of Research & Knowledge
Susan Chung, Ph.D., is the vice president of research and knowledge at the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) where she connects design and research for improving human experiences in the interior environment. Valuing the needs of design practitioners, her work at ASID consists of directing research projects that investigate the impact of design, translating research on current interior design issues into applicable design implications, and managing knowledge to equip designer practitioners to implement evidence-based design solutions. She orchestrated the comprehensive pre-/post-occupancy research for the new ASID HQ office, the world’s first LEED-Platinum and WELL-Platinum certified office space, and continues to conduct ongoing research in the ASID HQ living laboratory. She has published in industry and peer-reviewed journals, presented domestically and internationally, and continues to share knowledge with the next generation through teaching. She comes from an interior design and behavioral research background and has focused on design attributes related to creativity in workplace environments for her doctorate degree in Human Behavior and Design at Cornell University.
