Morna Hallsaxton

Auditor and Designer

Currently a PhD student at Michigan State University researching occupant health for interior spaces. As an interior designer graduate from Kendall College of Art and Design and BSN from Kent State University, Morna advocates healthy environments for all occupants. During and after obtaining an MFA in Environmental Design from MSU in 2007, Morna taught Interior Design classes focused on LEED 2009 BD+C Reference Guide. Her MFA dissertation “Residential Interior Occupant Health Criteria in West Michigan” evaluated the health of residential interior spaces and was published in a peer review journal in 2011. Her job at Intertek starting 2008 allowed her to work with GBCI as a LEED Project Reviewer for three years with over 250 LEEDv2009 reviews, and obtain her LEED AP BD+C, ID+C. Morna is also a speaker, educator and sustainable advocate. She obtained her WELL AP in 2015 passing the WELL exam the first time. Her last five years working at Intertek includes LCA development, team auditor for ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 (currently ISO 45001), certification auditor for Intertek’s VOC emission testing and lead auditor for BIFMA e3 Furniture Sustainability Standard. Additionally, Morna’s role includes developing Health Product Declarations (HPD), calculating Green House Gas consumption for other organizations, and technical writing and document reviews for BIFMA e3 standard.
