Access and Inclusive Environments Lead
I am the Access and Inclusive Environments Lead at Arup. My background in architecture & design, & my voluntary work in social integration projects, provides me with practical experience of the spatial & social implications of design, allowing me to assist the team in problem solving related to non-compliancy & the provision of inclusive designs without compromising the architectural vision.
I evaluate the accessibility & inclusivity of the built environment in relation to the local & national requirements, social / cultural setting, and best practice. As part of my work, I also consider the changing trends and demographics of our societies to address future requirements of a diverse population.
My work includes involvement new-build and existing buildings, on projects of varying size. Liaison with the client, design team & other specialist consultants are essential in my work, as well as discussions with approving bodies such as the local planning authority, Building Control authorities & Historic England, & user groups.
I am a Consultant Member of the National Register of Access Consultants (NRAC), an International Access Consultant under the CPABE certification and is also a trained ISEMOA Auditor. I am also a WELL Community advisor and part of the Covid-19 task force for the International WELL Buildings Institute, helping for shape healthier spaces for all.
