Dr. Tauni Lanier

Independent Subject Matter Expert, Sustainability and Sustainable Finance

Dr. Tauni Lanier is a recognised expert in the fields of sustainable finance and sustainable development in the finance sector. As a subject matter expert on sustainability strategy, sustainability risk/opportunities, as well as materiality and sustainable finance, she helps derive business value and intelligence from sustainability knowledge and data.

Previously serving as Director, Sustainability & Economic Growth/International Projects Group at BDO, Dr. Lanier brings deep knowledge in identifying overlaps and harmonizing sustainability across the business strategy.

Tauni is an investment banker and has worked in Germany, Switzerland, Singapore, the USA and France for organisations such as JP Morgan and Dresdner Kleinwort Benson on the debt side and in structured finance. She became the first managing director of the DJSGI. She has worked with such organisations as WBCSD, the Global Reporting Initiative, and corporate responsibility and corporate governance ratings. During her time as Executive Director of IM- PACT2030, she worked with the UN on the successful delivery of the SDGs, deploying re- sources via corporate human capital and with City projects. She founded EcoCapital partnership, combining experience in environmental and corporate finance to create a unique solution based business in non-traditional risk assessment and investment impact in investment decisions on the forefront in investment advisement, structuring, and due diligence in climate change, impact investing, social justice and environmental asset project development.

Tauni recently served as the Chief Sustainability Officer at World Wide Generation (WWG). WWG is a fintech company founded to facilitate the successful achievement to fulfill the delivery of theSustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In her role at WWG, she constructed the building blocks of the ESGenome part of the listing requirements of the Singapore Stock Exchange, which went live in October 2022.

She has headed up the Sustainability & ESG HUB at BDO LLP UK. She currently is a Director at BDO LLP and works in the Sustainable Economic Growth team within the International Projects Group. She leads the Green debt instrument work within the International Projects Group.

Tauni also currently serves as the Non-Executive Director at Carbon Tracker, and has served as Senior Advisor for ITU and advisory Board Member for the International Sustainable Finance Centre (ISFC).
