HU Jianxin

Adjunct professor at Tsinghua SIGS, former CSO at China Merchant Shekou holdings

Hu Jianxin is a professorate senior engineer, now an adjunct professor at Tsinghua SIGS.He was the CSO at CM Shekou holdings up until Oct. 2018. After retirement, he continues to devote himself to the studies and practices of green habitat, now through the development and promotion of entrepreneurship. He mentors at China Merchants Start-up (incubator), and co-founded Neo Ark Ecotech.

He was the first CSO in China at business, and the group’s deputy general manager for over 22 years. He has been an active member of several green building & eco-city organizations, engaging in the R&D and management in the business sector of construction and the real estate development for nearly4 decades. Mr. Hu has been in long-term commitments to R&D, demonstration and implementation of green habitat concept. He has led a number of green habitat projects, such as Taige serviced apartment in Shenzhen, the first Green Building in greater China with the LEED certification in 2005, and another project, “the Hills” in Guangzhou which won the first Habitat Business Awards for best practices of the United Nations in 2009. Mr. Hu has planned and organized the International Green Habitat Forum since 2004, of which the UNEP became a significant supporter since the 10th forum. Mr Hu was the co-founder of the NGO Shekou community foundation in Dec. 2014.
