Dr. Yao Gao

Director of Indoor Environment Innovation Lab

Dr. Yao Gao received his Ph.D. degree from University of Miami in 2011. After graduation, he joined in Shenzhen Institute of Building Research Co. Ltd. (IBR), China and became the manager of Indoor Environment and Health Innovation Lab of IBR in 2018. Dr. Gao is a WELL AP, Senior Engineer of Green Building, Registered Utility Engineer (HVAC), Registered Supervision Engineer, Registered Environmental Impact Assessment Engineer, and LEED AP (BD+C). He now serves for the expert committee of Living Environment and Human Health Brunch in China Building Materials Market Association, the expert committee of Shenzhen Public Service Facility Maintenance Association and the expert committee of Shenzhen Institute of Consumption Quality.

Dr. Gao has been researching on indoor air quality since his Ph.D. study. He was leading to develop 2 generations of Air-Watchers which are formaldehyde and VOC Passive Samplers and 2 generations of MY AIR which are IAQ monitors with online platform. As a core member of the research team, he also dedicated in the development of IndoorPACT, the pre-assessment and control software for indoor air quality, to fundamentally solve the problem of indoor decoration pollution. Dr. Gao participated in 1 international research project from IEA EBC and 3 national research projects of National Key Research Plan of China. He is an author of 6 published standards including industrial, local and association standards. He obtained 9 patents and 5 software copyright.
