Tyrone Yang
Architect & Adjunct Professor of Architecture
With a background in architecture and psychology, Tyrone is committed to creating buildings that carefully address people’s fundamental needs. This effort is rooted in carefully considering the unique possibilities of every client’s project and informed by a broader understanding of how beautiful, thoughtfully created environments can improve our daily lives.
Prior to starting Yang Architects, he worked as designer and project manager at Butz + Klug, Rizvi Architects and Moshe Safdie Associates on projects ranging from smaller, carefully crafted residential work to larger, 50,000-100,000 square-foot work environments and an overseas resort complex.
Tyrone has taught at the University of Virginia and at Wentworth Institute of Technology. He has also worked as a researcher at the Changing Places Group at the MIT Media Lab. Tyrone graduated with a Masters in Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design in 2002. He also has a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cornell University. He is a licensed architect and member of the American Institute of Architects and the Boston Society of Architects, where he promotes innovation and entrepreneurship as co-chair of the Small Practices Network.
