Jiannan Luo

Senior Environmental Design Analyst

Jiannan Luo studied Architectural Environment Engineering at the University of Nottingham. After getting his Honours Bachelor Degree in 2013, he studied further Environmental Design and Engineering at UCL and achieved distinction
degree in 2014.

In 2014, he joined Foster + Partners as an environmental design analyst. His involvement spanned various types of important projects including high-rise towers, a medical school, an international airport, a shopping centre, and international retail stores. More recently, he worked on and lead the environmental design for many global flagship Apple Stores across the world.

His work mainly covers thermal modelling, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling, code compliance modelling (e.g. ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G for LEED certification) and development of environmental strategies. He also has deep understanding of Chinese national energy code (GB 50189) and 3-Star system (GB/T 50378).

He leads the team with multiple advanced research topics regarding energy modelling and indoor system optimisation (CFD). He presented the research paper in one of the world’s leading technical symposium - CIBSE Technical Symposium 2018.

He obtained BREEAM International Assessor qualification in 2014, became a LEED AP (BD+C) in 2016, and WELL AP in 2017. He became a chartered engineer in UK under CIBSE in 2018. Jiannan became a Senior in 2018.
