I am passionate about creating and using the best evidence for WELL’s Community and Mind concepts.

In a research capacity, I lead a 5-year evaluation of neighbourhood greening interventions upon and Subjective Wellbeing (SWB), and associated health behaviours. This involves embracing the inherent complexity of this research, drawing upon Cochrane standards wherever practicable. Myself and colleagues are pleased to have prompted a healthy debate in this area and received a recognition award. We have begun to extend this discussion into practice, focussing in particular on ‘candyfloss v. parsnips’ (a hierarchy of evidence) and the use of WELL.

As a practitioner, I co-lead the development of BuroHappold’s evidence informed Health and Wellbeing (HWB) design approach. We are fortunate to have worked with amongst the most progressive private and public sector clients in the UK, US, Middle East and Malaysia. Highlights include working with C40, UKGBC, Lendlease, Marks & Spencer, LA County Office for Sustainability, and continue to collaborate with leading universities such as LSTHM, UCL, Cambridge and Manchester - in the UK and UCLA in the US.
