Eoin King

Associate Professor

Dr. Eoin King is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Acoustics at the University of Hartford, CT, USA. He holds a BAI in Mechanical Engineering (2003), Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics
(2006) and Ph.D. (2008), which focused on environmental acoustics, all from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.

King’s area of expertise is the assessment and management of environmental noise. He currently sits on the European Commission’s Noise Expert Group and the Board of the Institute of Noise Control
Engineering, USA (INCE-USA). In 2010 he was selected to represent Ireland as an as an expert in a European Technical Forum of Experts (CNOSSOS-EU) for the development of guidelines for the competent use of future common noise assessment methods.

He joined the University of Hartford in 2013, where he continues his research in acoustics. He has published widely in the international literature, in journals such as Applied Acoustics, Environment International, Science of the Total Environment, Energy Policy and Transportation Research Part D. His
first book, ‘Environmental Noise Pollution: Noise Mapping, Public Health and Policy’ was published in 2014 and he is author/co-author of more than 50 academic journal papers, book chapters, conference
papers and reports. He was Technical Chair for NOISE-CON 2016 and is the current Managing Editor for Noise/News International.

In his spare time, he coaches the University of Hartford’s Women’s Rugby Team (level 200 certification from USA Rugby), plays Gaelic football with Hartford GAA, and in 2017 he ran the New York City Marathon. He is also an avid musician, having been in struggling indie rock bands since his teenage years.
