Sustainability Manager

Amy Costello, P.E., is the Sustainability Manager at Armstrong Flooring, a global floor design and manufacturing corporation based in Lancaster, Pa. Amy is responsible for developing and managing sustainability strategies and initiatives and chairs the Armstrong Flooring Global Sustainability Steering Committee, which provides governance and sets the business direction regarding material sustainability issues. Prior to joining Armstrong, Amy managed the Air, Noise and Energy Section of the Virginia Department of Transportation where she oversaw an engineering team that administered programs related to air quality, noise abatement and energy. During her time at VDOT she received three Commissioner’s Awards for Excellence. Amy is on the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) Board of Director’s Advisory Council, and chairs the ASTM Sustainable Manufacturing Sub-Committee. Costello is a former member of the Board of Directors for both ASTM International and the USGBC, and she was appointed to serve on the US General Service Administration (GSA) Green Building Advisory Committee from 2014-2016. Amy received her master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and is a licensed Professional Engineer who is both a LEED and WELL Accredited Professional. Amy is a 2018 recipient of the STEP Ahead Award from The Manufacturing Institute, recognizing excellence among women in manufacturing.
