What is the WELL Health-Safety Rating?
The WELL Health-Safety Rating is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating for all facility types. The rating focuses on operational policies, maintenance protocols, stakeholder engagement and emergency plans—it was developed to address our post-COVID-19 world today and our broader health and safety-related issues tomorrow.
The WELL Health-Safety Rating was created with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization, National Institutes of Health; insights from the IWBI Task Force on COVID-19; WELL advisories covering a wide breadth of industries and fields of expertise; and finally, from the WELL Building Standard. The criteria are designed to be applicable to facility types across all sectors, while staying flexible enough to help you maximize the benefit of the rating for your project.
How can I achieve the WELL Health-Safety Rating?
- Enroll your project: Share some core details about your building or facility, and log in to your WELL Workspace for the first time.
- Select your team: Choose the key stakeholders who will help bring your project across the finish line.
- Choose your features: Review the available features and choose the ones that fit your project. Although you are only required to implement 15 features to obtain the WELL Health-Safety Seal, we recommend incorporating even more.
- Implement & document: Incorporate the features you have selected into your space and produce documentation that shows your work.
- Submit your project for review: Upload and submit your documentation from your WELL Health-Safety Workspace, and a third-party reviewer from Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) will either offer feedback or confirm you’ve successfully met the feature-specific intent and requirements.
- Achieve: After a successful review, you will have earned the WELL Health-Safety Rating! Now it’s time to promote your achievement. Be sure to make your project Public so your accomplishment can be shared with the world!
- Renew: Apply for your annual seal to demonstrate ongoing commitment to upholding operational policies, maintenance protocols, emergency plans and stakeholder engagement.
