BRAND GUIDELINES AND SEAL USAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Use the seal on site

    • Once verified, you can use the designation “WELL Performance Rated” and/or the seal provided by IWBI. The WELL Performance Rating seal is a visual mark for buildings and interiors that signals a commitment to evidence-based interventions that support human health.

    • Feature the seal prominently at the entrance of the building (e.g., front windows or doors) or within the space (e.g., lobby) that has been WELL Performance Rated. For high visibility, white/transparent seals are preferred when displayed on glass, and blue/white solid seals are preferred when displayed on wood or metal surfaces.

    • The WELL Performance Rating seal will indicate the year the project achieved the rating (with new seals made available at each annual renewal) and may only be displayed at the site of the WELL Performance Rated location. To remain an active WELL Performance Rated location and to be eligible to receive seals of achievement each year, the enrollment must be renewed annually and all rating requirements must continue to be met.

    • WELL Performance Rating seals are awarded to specific buildings/spaces, not to entire companies, at a portfolio level or for multiple buildings. Project teams should only use the WELL Performance Rating seal in marketing materials to represent the specific project(s) that has achieved it, and may not imply in graphics or words that the mark applies to an entire company or portfolio.

    • All public statements about the achievement of the WELL Performance Rating must be accurate and not misleading; if the rating expires and is not renewed, then other than accurate, factual statements about the historical achievement of the WELL Performance Rating, no other public statements may be made that are misleading or that suggest or imply that the building, facility or space continues to meet the requirements of the WELL Performance Rating.

  • Digital mark guidelines for marketing teams
The following guidelines pertain to the use of the WELL Performance Rating digital mark in marketing materials, website visuals and digital and hard copy collateral only.

    • Update your company website and other promotional materials to include this designation.

    • The digital mark should only be used in digital or printed marketing materials. WELL Performance Rated projects are not permitted to leverage the digital mark to print their owner stickers for display on the interior or exterior of a space.

    • Enrolled projects that have not yet completed the WELL Performance Rating process or those that mark themselves as private within the WELL digital platform are not permitted to use the seal in any capacity.

    • Seal integrity: The WELL Performance Rating seals should always be used as-is, with appropriate sizing (see below for guidance), with no modification (stretching, separation, modifying any colors) to the mark’s elements.

    • Seal colors: The marks associated with the WELL Performance Rating seals should be used in only the colors displayed. Seals are offered in dark blue (#1f5f70) and transparent white.

    • Seal sizing: To maintain legibility, the WELL Performance Rating seals should never be used at a width of less than 200px. The seals should always be scaled to equal proportions to ensure no stretching occurs.

    • Download your WELL Performance Rated seal here.

HOW TO REFERENCE IWBI AND WELL
Consult the IWBI Brand and Style Guidelines for logo and mark usage.

About IWBI

  • The official organization name is the International WELL Building Institute pbc. “IWBI” is the official acronym. Use the complete name on any first reference. Subsequent references in copy may use IWBI. NOTE: When using “IWBI” as a noun, do not precede with “the.” For example, Contact IWBI for more information.
  • The International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) is a public benefit corporation and the world’s leading organization focused on deploying people-first places to advance a global culture of health. IWBI mobilizes its community through the administration of the WELL Building Standard (WELL) and WELL ratings, management of the WELL AP credential, the pursuit of applicable research, the development of educational resources, and advocacy for policies that promote health and well-being everywhere. More information on WELL can be found at wellcertified.com.

  • International WELL Building Institute pbc is a wholly owned subsidiary of Delos Living LLC. International WELL Building Institute, IWBI, the WELL Building Standard, WELL v2, WELL Certified, WELL AP, WELL Score, The WELL Conference, We Are WELL, the WELL Community Standard, WELL Health-Safety Rating, WELL Health-Safety Rated, WELL Equity Rated, WELL Performance Rated, WELL Performance Rating, WELL and others, and their related logos are trademarks or certification marks of International WELL Building Institute pbc in the United States and other countries.

About WELL Performance Rating

  • Designed to help organizations leverage building performance data and occupant experience insights to shift business decisions and drive health and well-being outcomes, the WELL Performance Rating serves as a roadmap to implement best practices for continuous monitoring and performance across key indoor environmental quality (IEQ) metrics related to indoor air quality, water quality management, lighting measurements, thermal conditions, acoustic performance, environmental monitoring and occupant experience. The rating is comprised of features from the WELL Building Standard (WELL).

A NOTE ABOUT HOW PURSUIT OF THE WELL PERFORMANCE RATING MAY RELATE TO WELL-REGISTERED AND WELL CERTIFIED PROJECTS UNDER THE WELL BUILDING STANDARD AS WELL AS HOW YOUR ACHIEVEMENT MAY RELATE TO WELL AT SCALE.

  • Owners or operators can pursue the WELL Performance Rating for projects independently, seamlessly use the rating as a steppingstone to achievement of WELL Certification or integrate the rating as a milestone within their WELL Certification or WELL at scale journey.
  • The WELL Performance Rating is different and distinct from the WELL Certification program. While projects that are pursuing WELL Certification can earn the WELL Performance Rating as part of their certification journey, organizations enrolled to pursue the WELL Performance Rating may not designate their buildings or spaces as WELL-enrolled or WELL Certified. Projects may enroll in the WELL program with the intent of earning WELL Certification under the WELL Building Standard. A project that is enrolled can only be referred to as enrolled in the WELL program and is not authorized to use the WELL Certified seals and/or mark. However, enrolled projects may promote themselves in text (press releases, social posts, marketing brochures, etc.) using these PR guidelines. You will be eligible to use the WELL Certification mark once they achieve WELL Certification.

  • The WELL Performance Rating is different and distinct from WELL at scale. While owners that wish to pursue the WELL Performance Rating at the enterprise level or across a real estate portfolio concurrently may do so through an enterprise-wide or portfolio-wide pathway, they may not designate their buildings or spaces as participating in WELL at scale.

  • If your project is enrolled in the WELL Certification program or is WELL Certified, please see additional guidance here. If you wish to subscribe to WELL at scale, please contact us for additional guidelines.

PLEASE BE MINDFUL WHEN PHRASING YOUR MESSAGES:

  • Do say:
-[Project name] is enrolled to pursue the WELL Performance Rating.
-[Company name] is pursuing the WELL Performance Rating for [properties/spaces].
-[Company name] has achieved a WELL Performance Rating for its [property/space] (once documentation has been reviewed and IWBI has confirmed that you’ve successfully met the feature specific intent and requirements).
    -[Property/space] is WELL Performance Rated.
  • Don’t say:
    -[Company name] is WELL Certified, WELL-registered, WELL-qualified, WELL-compliant, WELL-reviewed, WELL-enrolled, WELL-verified, WELL-designed, WELL-certifiable, etc…
-[Company’s location name] is WELL Performance Certified. (Correct way is to say [Company’s property/space] is WELL Performance Rated.)
-[Company name] is WELL Performance Rated because WELL Performance Rating can be granted for the designated property/space, not the entire organization.
-Project is WELL-ready or WELL-enabled, or any other term incorporating the WELL trademark that is not authorized by IWBI.

Do not shorten or abbreviate project team roles unless otherwise indicated.
