Thank you & WELL wishes

To the WELL community,

Our recent WELL Community Awards event gave me the opportunity to look back over the year and all of our collective accomplishments in 2021 and I was struck yet again by the tremendous passion and deep commitment of our global community. On behalf of all of us at IWBI, and in the spirit of the season, thank you for all you’ve done this year to advance people-first places that protect our health and safety and nurture our well-being. It’s clear that our shared work has never been more relevant or more important.

Thanks to our members, whose close alignment with our many programs helps us further our market transformation mission.

Thanks to our WELL Faculty and WELL APs, who advance our movement even in the face of the challenges of the times, and to our newly minted WELL Enterprise Providers, who help us deliver WELL’s promise at scale.

Thanks to our IWBI Governance Council members who help us make sure WELL’s rigor and our go-to-market strategy are unassailable, and our community of Advisors who make sure each part of WELL continually improves and evolves with the science and with best practice.

Thanks to our WELL Performance partners whose tireless work this year will result in the launch early next year of a WELL Performance Rating that empowers organizations to leverage building performance and occupant experience data to shift business decision making and culture.

Thanks to our WELL Equity Co-chairs and Advisors, who have pulled up a seat at the table to make sure no one—no one—is left behind as we embrace our responsibility to advance health equity in full measure through the development of a WELL Equity Rating that we will launch next year.

Thanks to our Investing for Health contributors for leading our efforts to put the H – for health and humanity – into ESG (environmental, social and governance) reporting through a laser focus on developing the human and social capital management and performance metrics that can provide the investment-grade data investors need.

Thanks to Rick Fedrizzi for his leadership and grace as he transitioned from CEO to IWBI’s executive chairman role and for 14 years of mentorship and sponsorship that readied me to take the helm. Thanks to the leaders of our parent company, Paul Scialla and Peter Scialla, who encourage and embolden us to think big and execute fearlessly every day. And to Prateek Khanna, IWBI’s chief operating officer, for being my co-pilot and my dearest friend.

Profound and heartfelt gratitude goes to our amazing IWBI team members across the globe who answer every challenge with enthusiasm and resolve and who execute so relentlessly in circumstances challenging beyond measure.

Thanks to all of you we’re ending the year with more than 3.3 billion square feet of space in nearly 100 countries participating in WELL and benefitting more than 15 million people around the world. Our customers represent nearly 20% of the Fortune 500, most of the largest real estate development and brokerage firms, school systems, senior living communities, co-working spaces, affordable housing and others eager to extend the benefits of WELL
to all.

There are thousands of ways we could measure how the entire WELL ecosystem gave its all to get us through this year and better prepare us to deliver on the future we seek. But while the metrics count, in these fraught times, it’s the heartbeats behind them that matter most of all.

With gratitude,
Rachel Hodgdon
